Dongnan, a 58-year-old who works at a restaurant, has a reputation for being lazy and unreliable, which resulted in his reassignment to a security guard position. Facing limited career opportunities and family issues, he aspires to become his own boss. With assistance from his friend Douyin Jie, Dongnan launches a restaurant and initially finds success. To enhance his family life, he buys an AI robot to handle household tasks and mediate family disputes.
