In southeastern Turkey, the Altun family resides in a small village nestled in the mountains, where they endure the harsh realities of a 25-year-long conflict. As the war escalates, they are compelled to move westward to Istanbul. Haydar and Isa Altun choose to remain in Turkey with their young children, while Davut Altun and his family head north to Norway, relying on smugglers for their journey. Upon arrival, they secure jobs in a supermarket, but the challenges of refugee life are unrelenting. Meanwhile, in Istanbul, Haydar takes care of the family as his wife faces surgery due to complications with her pregnancy. Their son befriends a group of transvestites, which helps him come to terms with his lifelong feelings of being different. Although this self-discovery is freeing, it brings shame to his family, forcing him to escape the resulting mistreatment.
