In Uganda, Riitta and Catherine share a home. During the day, these women in their sixties offer education on sexual health and equality to people of Catholic, Muslim, and Anglican faiths. In the evenings, they enjoy smoking, solving crossword puzzles, and engaging in open conversations. As Riitta’s extensive career in advocating for women’s empowerment in Africa nears its end, the Ugandan government is making efforts to terminate their sex education initiative in her final months on the continent.
