“Here and There” (Serbian: Tamo i ovde) is a Serbian film that debuted at the 2009 Belgrade Film Festival FEST. The movie weaves together two interlinked narratives set on different continents. In one story, Robert (played by Thornton), a disheartened New Yorker, seeks to earn some quick money but instead embarks on a journey to Serbia, where he discovers a deeper sense of self rather than financial gain. Concurrently, the film follows Branko (portrayed by Trifunović), a young Serbian immigrant facing hardships in the relentless environment of New York City, as he makes a determined effort to reunite with his girlfriend by bringing her from Serbia to the U.S. Mirijana Karanović features as Branko’s mother.
