Michael Shannon takes on the role of Herbert White, a character inspired by Frank Bidart’s poem of the same name. Although Herbert is not particularly likable, the film offers viewers a glimpse into the psyche of a serial killer, revealing that he often acts like an ordinary person. While films such as “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” have explored similar themes, achieving the task of immersing the audience in the mind of a complex human monster within just 14 minutes is truly remarkable.
