Wang Tiemei, a single mother, finds herself unemployed and relocates, where she forms a friendship with her neighbor Xiaoye, who, despite her upbeat demeanor, struggles with depression. As their friendship deepens, Tiemei also deals with complications arising from her interactions with her troublesome ex-husband.
