In a village recovering from the aftermath of the Korean War, the impoverished yet kind-hearted Heo Sam-gwan embarks on a quest to win the heart of the village’s most beautiful woman, Heo Ok-ran, by selling his blood to make money. Fast forward several years, the couple is happily married with three children.
