Paul and Agnes have been dating for some time, and Agnes is taken aback when she discovers that Paul prefers to live with two roommates on campus rather than move in with her. Upon meeting one of his roommates, Louis-Anault, Paul begins to act differently, feeling an attraction to Louis that he doesn’t fully understand. Agnes becomes envious and proposes a wager: whoever wins over Louis-Anault first will determine their future. During this time, Paul encounters Mecir, a young Arab laborer, who opens his eyes to a world beyond the confines of prestigious universities.
