Andrea Marr, an intelligent and mature 18-year-old high school senior, stands on the brink of adulthood. She chooses to leave behind her sheltered and mundane life, along with her studious friend Darcy, to explore the local rock and roll scene. As a groupie for local rock singer Tod Sparrow, Andrea seeks to understand the lifestyle of those who follow touring bands. She embarks on this journey with her new companions: Cybil, who dreams of becoming a rock star; Rebecca, an extroverted fellow groupie; and Kevin, a music critic.
