Shirou Emiya unexpectedly becomes involved in a lethal contest where seven Mages call forth heroic spirits to fight as their champions in life-or-death battles. The prize is the Holy Grail, a mystical artifact capable of fulfilling any desire. Despite his lack of magical prowess and ignorance about the Holy Grail War, Shirou, along with his servant Saber, forms a temporary alliance with another Mage, Rin Tohsaka. Tensions, however, surface between Shirou and Rin’s servant, Archer, who appears to harbor a deep-seated animosity towards him.
