In Berlin during 1942, Hilde is part of a resistance group opposing the Nazis. She develops a romantic relationship with Hans, who is also involved in the group. They enjoy a summer together, but their time is cut short when the Gestapo apprehends them, leading to Hilde’s imprisonment while she is eight months pregnant.
