A young family from the city spends their summers on a picturesque island. One day, a scruffy, stray dog appears on their land, prompting the father to contact Animal Control. However, the children plead to keep the dog. They strike a deal: the kids can care for the dog, named Frank, and help him recover, but they must find him a new home by the end of the summer. As Frank grows stronger, he plays a crucial role in uniting the family.
