In a bid to reclaim his status, venture capitalist Joel encounters Nicolaus and Lester, two entrepreneurs in search of funding for their virtual reality company, Empathy, Inc. This startup promises users immersive and emotional experiences by allowing them to step into the lives of those less privileged. Joel secures the necessary investment for the company, only to later uncover that the technology’s developers harbor a much more sinister plan.
