Elena, a young woman from Brazil, journeys to New York with aspirations similar to her mother’s—to pursue a career in acting. She leaves behind a childhood marked by secrecy during the military regime, as well as her younger sister, Petra, who is seven at the time. Twenty years later, Petra follows in her sister’s footsteps, becoming an actress and heading to New York to search for Elena. Armed with only a few pieces of evidence—home videos, newspaper articles, a diary, and letters—Petra hopes to one day spot Elena on the streets, wearing a silk blouse. As the story unfolds, the identities of the two sisters begin to blur, making it difficult to distinguish between them. When Petra eventually discovers Elena in an unforeseen location, she must come to terms with the need to let her go.
