When James Downey comes back to Newfoundland for his mother’s funeral, he is confronted with the unresolved family problems he believed he had escaped. While James turned the turmoil from his abusive father into a career as a police officer, his cousin Danny’s childhood suffering has spiraled into a life of substance abuse, criminal activity, and aggression. James is forced to face his painful history, determine his true identity, and address the situation with his cousin before it’s beyond repair.
