In 1999, Aaron Baker suffered a severe motocross accident that left him with a broken neck and completely paralyzed from the neck down. Despite doctors’ bleak predictions over the next 16 years, Aaron chose to ignore the odds that claimed he had a million-to-one chance of ever feeding himself again. Instead, he embarked on a determined quest to regain as much movement as possible. This challenging journey led him from the depths of despair to the exhilaration of cross-country road trips on a tandem bicycle with his mother and friends. Ultimately, it resulted in him opening an affordable, socially conscious gym aimed at enhancing mobility for people with disabilities. In “Coming To My Senses,” we witness Aaron’s final symbolic journey of recovery: attempting to walk 20 miles across Death Valley without support. But will he succeed?
