Jonathan, a naive student from the Midwest, forms a friendship with his sophisticated roommate, Skip, who becomes a mentor to him. Encouraged by Skip, Jonathan ventures into the cocktail bars of Chicago to meet older women. There, he encounters the captivating Ellen and they begin an affair, only for Jonathan to later discover that she is Skip’s mother. Their friendship is strained even further when a cheating scandal erupts at their school.
