James White serves as one of many assistant pastors at a large Southern California church, led by the TV evangelist Johnny Kingman. Eager to lead his own congregation, James seizes the chance to become the pastor of the struggling Divine Faith Apostolic Church in Atlanta. However, his wife and two children are not thrilled about this new role, and the church members themselves are skeptical. Together, they must build trust and unite to protect the church from a dishonest banker eager to seize it. In this warm, family-oriented comedy, a musical intervention by BeBe Winans becomes their saving grace.
