Directed and written by Windsor native Mike Stasko, “Boys vs. Girls” draws inspiration from his own 1990s summer camp experiences. During a time when many camps were closing annually, Camp Kitchikewana opted to become co-ed for financial reasons, leading to a genuine gender rivalry. Set in the summer of 1990, the film portrays Camp Kindlewood’s first-ever transition to a co-ed environment after seventy years. Camp Director Roger, played by Colin Mochrie, strives to prevent the camp from being shut down. However, an uncomfortable incident between lead counselors Dale (Eric Osborne) and Amber (Rachel Dagenais) sparks a gender-based showdown. Both sides rally to reclaim their camp and assert their perceived ownership, igniting a prank war, with camp caretaker Coffee (Kevin McDonald) adding fuel to the fire, as the boys and girls vie for control of their beloved summer retreat.
