Eliska finds herself abandoned by her husband, who has left her for a younger woman. Despite being in her early forties and without children, she remains attractive. Previously, she had devoted herself to supporting her successful husband, but now she must begin a new chapter without his financial backing. Eliska takes up a teaching position at a village school. Unable to secure accommodation, she moves into an old morgue. This small dwelling is already inhabited by Bozicek, an eccentric and irritable graveyard caretaker. Their cohabitation results in a series of humorous clashes, but eventually, they fall in love. Eliska ultimately demonstrates to her ex-husband that she is capable of thriving independently.
