Alana and Lori, two young LGBT individuals in their twenties, were searching for romance on Tinder when a simple right swipe led to a connection that would change their lives forever. Shortly after they met, Lori discovered that Alana was battling Lupus and had been on the kidney transplant list for several years. In New York, where Alana resides, the number of organ donors is the lowest in the nation, and due to her complicated medical history, her chances of finding a suitable donor were extremely low. Defying the odds, Lori discovered she was a compatible donor and chose to offer Alana the most precious gift. If the transplant succeeds, Alana’s life expectancy will increase threefold, and she will no longer need nightly dialysis. However, if it fails, Lori will undergo a risky surgery and lose a healthy organ without benefit. BEAN is a poignant exploration of the medical journey faced by two families, challenging the boundaries of love and sacrifice.
