The movie follows a high school technology enthusiast, played by Laura Marano, who is set on being crowned prom queen. However, on the day of the event, she wakes up to a hair disaster and a ruined prom dress, with everything that could possibly go awry doing just that. Meanwhile, a police officer, portrayed by Leigh-Allyn Baker, is on the hunt for a necklace that the teenager inadvertently comes into possession of. The prom day takes a chaotic turn as the duo is chased around the city by a relentless jewel thief, played by Christian Campbell, leading to a series of wild escapades.
