“Landfill” is a documentary born from the intriguing contradiction surrounding waste. While the majority aim to dispose of it, I encountered a group of women who are trailblazers in recycling and actually long for the discarded items others throw away. Since I began working on this film, much has changed, both in the media with its often misleading sustainability narratives, and in my own personal connection to waste, as I took on the role of a ‘householder.’ This film focuses on these seven women, who are genuine authorities in their field.
