In the midst of World War II in 1943, while Europe is engulfed in conflict, Arturo and Flora, the daughter of a New York restaurant proprietor, are deeply in love. However, Flora is betrothed to a Mafia boss’s son. Arturo sees a potential solution to this predicament: he must obtain the blessing of Flora’s father, who resides in a Sicilian village. Lacking the financial means to travel, Arturo’s only option to reach Sicily is by joining the U.S. Army, which is gearing up for an invasion of the island.
