Ethan Bortnick stars as Nathan, a young boy who becomes separated from his mother when she disappears during a humanitarian trip to Japan following a tsunami. The film delves into themes such as homelessness, life in military families, and adoption. Ethan collaborated with Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Gary Baker to compose the music and will also score the entire film. This makes Ethan the youngest actor to both co-write the soundtrack and star in a leading role for a feature film. When Army Lieutenant Margaret Peters (played by Lacy Chabert) goes missing during a rescue mission in Japan, Nathan, back in Detroit, learns that his father, George (Jonathan Bennett), is not his biological parent. Fearing that Child Care Services might take him away, Nathan flees before George can clarify the situation. As George embarks on a desperate search, Nathan finds himself on the streets of Detroit, where he encounters Captain Miles, a homeless veteran of the Iraq War, who takes the boy under his wing.
