In a small ranching community in Alberta, cattle begin to die under mysterious circumstances due to anthrax, prompting an RCMP officer to maintain order as the local ranchers point fingers at a nearby agricultural research facility. A journalist stirs up the agitated ranchers, led by the officer’s mother-in-law, to organize a sit-in at the research center. The situation escalates when an unusual elderly rancher succumbs to a lethal anthrax strain, leading to the protesters being placed under quarantine. Amidst the chaos, the reporter vanishes, taking with him several vials of the dangerous bacteria. The RCMP officer launches his own investigation, gathering insights from a U.S. government agent, and finds himself in a race against time to retrieve the stolen anthrax.
