Becca, Adam, and their young daughter Acie seem to have an idyllic family life until a devastating accident on the 4th of July claims Adam’s life. Overwhelmed by sorrow, Becca decides to leave the family farm, which is filled with painful memories. She entrusts Acie to her grandfather Ben’s care and goes to stay with her school friend, June. With good intentions, June provides Becca with numerous distractions from her family troubles. However, consumed by anger towards God and a loss of faith, Becca turns to alcohol and engages in other harmful behaviors. After Becca is arrested, Ben warns her that he will keep Acie until she gets her life back in order. A fortuitous meeting with a traveler at a bus station offers Becca the inspiration she needs to regain her faith and reconnect with her family.
