On August 20, 2013, just after starting her day at the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia, Antoinette, the school’s bookkeeper, found herself in the front office when Michael Hill, a young man with a background of mental health issues, entered the building unnoticed. He was carrying an AK-47 and had hundreds of bullets. As the school initiated a lockdown, Antoinette was left alone with Michael, who continuously threatened to take lives.
