This year’s “Golden Voices Competition” is set to take place at Terrell Christian College (TCC), but there’s a significant issue: TCC lacks a choir. Georgia Mae Jackson (Irma P. Hall), the head of the music department, faces a challenge from Assistant Dean Vickie Wilson (Tonea Stewart) to assemble a choir within a month or risk losing her position. When Georgia suffers from back problems, she cleverly convinces her granddaughter, Sidney Nicole Taylor (Nikki Dixon), to take charge of the choir. Sidney shakes things up at the college by enlisting the help of Jax Rebel (Mario Mims), a disgraced former R&B star, to assist with the choir. Upon discovering Jax’s troubled history, Dean Wilson threatens to dismiss Georgia if they fail to win the competition. Can Sidney and Jax manage to secure Georgia’s job?
