Vera Parks (played by Melissa Gilbert), a high-strung and exacting Broadway director, finds herself dismissed from yet another position, forcing her to accept a role directing a Christmas pageant in a small town in upstate New York. Initially taken aback by the simplicity of the production, Vera considers withdrawing, but the local residents persuade her to give their community a chance. Unexpectedly, Vera finds herself charmed by the town’s warmth and begins to enjoy the process of directing the pageant. Her surprise turns to anger when she learns that her ex-fiancé, Jack (portrayed by Robert Mailhouse), was the one who suggested her for the role. However, as time passes, Vera comes to appreciate his gesture, growing closer to both Jack and his young daughter (played by Lennon Wynn). Will love take center stage this time?
