A retrovirus, initially designed for industrial genetic engineering, has spiraled out of control and is spreading rapidly. It indiscriminately affects all organisms within our ecosystem, blending plants, animals, and humans. Most plants, due to their complex DNA, show greater resistance. However, the simpler genetic makeup of plants causes humans to undergo grotesque mutations, often resulting in death. Within a week, 90% of humanity is either wiped out or transformed beyond recognition. Yet, a small portion of the global population remains immune to the virus and must navigate this ever-evolving ecological landscape. Among the survivors is Tom Cellar, who has fortified himself on an old military base in the Eifel. Other survivors join him, managing to establish a semblance of life in this altered world. However, the genetically modified organisms (GMOs) continue to evolve, and soon the base’s defenses are no longer sufficient.
