Set in New Orleans, “The Originals” is a spin-off from “The Vampire Diaries” and follows the Mikaelson siblings, known as the first vampires in existence: Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah. Klaus is determined to reclaim New Orleans from his former apprentice, Marcel, who now rules the city. Klaus originally established New Orleans but left when his father, Mikael, pursued him. Marcel took over during Klaus’s absence. Now, Klaus has returned, driven by his pride to reclaim his throne. He acknowledges the importance of having an heir, referring to the unborn child, the first offspring of a hybrid and a werewolf.
