As a third-generation deli expert, Ziggy’s family legacy includes his uncle and great-uncle’s ownership of Berger’s in the diamond district and the Woodrow Deli on Long Island. His grandfather ran the renowned Rialto Delicatessen on Broadway, and Ziggy was already helping out by stuffing cabbages at the age of eight. Today, he is the proprietor and expert (as well as a Yiddish-speaking, French-trained chef) of one of the nation’s premier delis, Kenny and Ziggy’s in Houston, Texas—yes, you read that right, Texas.
