Robert Woodfield, a seasoned criminal defense lawyer, has built his career on the principle that everyone, guilty or not, deserves a fair defense, and he consistently delivers on this belief. His latest client, Martin Ritter, a known murderer, is acquitted under Robert’s defense. Afterward, Robert meets a friend for dinner, who hints at needing to discuss something crucial. As Robert is about to leave, masked assailants confront his friend and kill him. Shockingly, one of the attackers reveals himself to be Martin Ritter.
