The film begins with a water-skiing mishap involving a girl named Délie, who is steering a speedboat, and a young man named Stan, whom she is towing. Both are pushing their boundaries when an accident occurs. After the severe incident, Stan regains consciousness from a coma only to discover that genealogists are searching for someone whose identity matches his own. Rather than questioning this inheritance connection, he accepts Professor Starkov’s bequest and sets off for the land of Las Estrellas. This purifying journey, where intuition and telepathy hasten the passage through time, reimagines the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice as they battle against the dominion of the Time-God.
