This anthology of five short films skillfully explores how desire can both uplift and devastate those who experience it. In “The Summer House,” the alluring teenager Jane (played by Talulah Riley) is pursued by her ex-boyfriend, Richard (portrayed by Robert Pattinson), amidst the tumultuous summer of 1969. Other stories include a waitress (Amy Adams) who is determined to save her young daughter, and a tech enthusiast (James Franco) who relies on technology to suppress his feelings.
