In a gripping reimagining of vampire mythology, “Shadowland” begins in contemporary North America, where construction workers stumble upon an ancient stone cross and what looks like a wooden stake. When they remove the stake, Laura (played by Caitlin McIntosh), a dormant vampire, is awakened and emerges from the ground. Disoriented and frail, Laura is unable to speak or recall her identity, including the fact that she is a vampire. As she navigates this unfamiliar world, fragments of her past resurface, revealing memories of a blissful human existence in 1897 and a charming yet enigmatic lover, Lazarus (portrayed by Carlos Antonio León), whose intentions may have been questionable. Meanwhile, Julian (Jason Contini), a jaded vampire hunter working for the church, is on Laura’s trail. However, as he gets closer to his target, he discovers that the situation is more complex than it appears.
