Yvonne, a middle-aged Chinese immigrant who has gone through a divorce, feels as though her life has reached a standstill, believing she is destined to spend her remaining years catering to the whims of her large and quirky family. Unexpectedly, love finds its way into her life, offering Yvonne a long-awaited opportunity for genuine affection. However, she finds herself drawn to Jose, a Mexican-American dentist, who is the least likely candidate for acceptance by her traditional Chinese family. Regardless of cultural or racial backgrounds, the story reveals that at our core, we share commonalities.
