Ambitious and successful single mother Jenna Thompson, an author of young adult novels, faces a tight deadline of five weeks to complete her latest book for her publisher. This means her annual beach getaway with her children, Nick (Luke Loveless) and Ally (Reagan Shumate), will double as a working retreat. Upon reaching their destination, they encounter their new neighbor, the carefree and self-assured surfer Lucas McKinnon, with whom they will share a wall and patio for the next month. Lucas enjoys playing loud music at night, sleeping in, and letting his dog, Tank, roam freely. Jenna struggles to make progress on her novel, often attributing her writer’s block to Lucas’ noisy volleyball games and erratic schedule. However, as Lucas forms a connection with Nick and Ally, Jenna starts to perceive him differently. One evening, when they share a dinner alone, both Jenna and Lucas begin to view each other in a new, more appealing way. The film features Amanda Righetti and Peter Porte.
