Crime novelist Sean Flynn returns to his hometown of Riverport, North Carolina, from New York after a lengthy absence when the authorities decide to revisit the old murder case that derailed his father’s political career. In his quest to uncover the truth behind a mysterious death and to advance his own writing career, Sean must face the shared issues that have long estranged him from his father, Chuck Flynn. Chuck, once a District Attorney and now a defense attorney, is handling the case while spending his days drinking at a bar opposite the courthouse. As the trial progresses, it becomes clear that the case is far more complex than it initially appeared.
