Circle Jerks: My Career As A Jerk
Circle Jerks: My Career As A Jerk
Watch Trailer

From their inception, the LA punk group Circle Jerks was steeped in controversy. Established in late 1979 by former members of Black Flag and Red Cross (now known as Redd Kross), the band came to embody the essence, sound, and vigor of California’s Hardcore Punk scene. Filmmaker David Markey, known for works like “1991: The Year Punk Broke” and “The Slog Movie,” combines detailed interviews, rare live performances, and historical insights to narrate the journey of one of the most pivotal bands in America’s underground music scene. “My Career as a Jerk” traces the band’s evolution from their early beginnings and iconic debut, through their experiences with independent labels and the 80s touring circuit, to the struggles with addiction, conflicts, and injuries that led to their disbandment. Naturally, the tale doesn’t quite conclude there.
