What does it take to acknowledge that your overprotective mother might be right? Annabel, a young and free-spirited woman residing in San Francisco, is confronted with this harsh reality when her mother, Joan, makes an unexpected visit from her small Midwestern hometown. After the death of Annabel’s elderly neighbor, Joan is convinced it was murder. Annabel initially dismisses this as her mother’s typical paranoia about city life until she herself encounters another body that mysteriously vanishes. Lacking any evidence to present to the police, Annabel embarks on a humorous investigation with Joan as her sole partner, all while a potential murderer may be catching on to their amateur detective work.
