Confined to a dismal and cramped cell in a dreadful Soviet prison, a fatigued new prisoner grapples with adjusting to his harsh surroundings. Inside the bleak enclosure, an unfriendly cellmate warns him against touching the intriguingly enigmatic red wooden box placed on the lower bunk, and even more so, against opening it. What is the reason behind the box’s shrouded mystery? Could it possibly contain the key to his freedom?
