Courtney Snow, a novelist struggling with writer’s block and still tormented by the memory of her best friend’s suicide during their prep school days, ends up teaching at that same institution as she attempts to rebuild her life. There, she meets a student named Laurel, who eerily resembles her deceased friend in both appearance and knowledge. Laurel possesses information about Courtney that only her late friend could have known. Courtney is left to wonder if she’s losing her sanity or if she’s the victim of a heartless trick.
