In 1898, a contingent of fifty Spanish troops reaches the tiny village of Baler in the Philippines with the mission to reconstruct a military outpost. Despite the Spanish Empire’s impending defeat in the conflict against Filipino forces and their American allies, this garrison will withstand a brutal siege lasting nearly a year. Ultimately, they will be the final group to capitulate.
